We are pleased to announce Global Bioinformatics Hub (GBH) & UniV collaborative event – “The R foundations – Basic to intermediate R programming, data manipulation & visualization”. This event is designed to assist you in achieving your desired goals. Please read course highlights, learning outcomes and requirements before you submit this form and find the details below:

📆 Total Classes: 10-11 (including 8-9 Practical exercise sessions within the classes) = total 24-25 hours

Topics covered will include:

R introduction, R environment, RStudio
R basics to intermediate: Variables and operators, vector, strings, objects, loop, function, scripting etc
data type (Matrices, lists, and data frames) & structures
uploading and exporting data, results
data handling, wrangling, manipulation, transformation
data visualization (base R, making publishable plots: ggplot2)

🕒 Class Schedule: every Fri, Sat, Sun, (4th-28th July 2025)

🎓 Entry Requirements:

– University students or Research professionals, especially Masters, PhD, Postdocs, and faculty in Bangladesh or world Universities or Organization.

– Good general computer literacy.

– Basic knowledge in mathematics and statistics.

Selected participants (based on entry requirements, motivation) enter into the main course.

This workshop targets all, but more relevant to biologists, agriculturists, natural & life science students & researchers, academicians, officers, scientists and general students who have little to no experience with R programming or programming in general. But other backgrounds or people are also welcome too if they want to achieve intended learning outcomes (see bellow).

Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

Understand what is R and RStudio and how to use them.
Explain about R packages.
Install R packages from CRAN or Biocmanager Or github.
Describe various elements of a programming language commonly used in R.
Work with different data types.
Import and export data from and to the R environment.
Wrangle or Manipulate data or own data.
Visualize the data.
generate publishable figures, plots etc.

– We will provide the pre-course material before the first meeting, and course materials on the first meeting, so that you can prepare yourself and follow the course smoothly!

– This workshop aims at delivering foundation knowledge and make you practice in using the R programming language .

– The course contains both lectures and practical exercises.

– In the course we encourage participants to use r-studio.

– Before the first meeting you have to work on (read mostly & understand) the Pre-course material .

– the links to lectures and exercises will be made active at the day of events
