Eti Khan Mitu
Eti Khan Mitu is currently the Deputy Director of the Research and Development Unit (Science School), a former Assistant Director of Research and Development, and an intern in the Language Skills Development Unit at UniV.
Eti is a dedicated and promising researcher and academic in the field of environmental science, with a strong specialization in coastal studies and disaster management. Hailing from Khanpura village in the Barishal district of Bangladesh, she has consistently demonstrated academic excellence and a deep commitment to addressing climate-induced hazards and sustainability challenges in vulnerable communities. Eti holds both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Coastal Studies and Disaster Management from the University of Barishal.
Her strong academic foundation is complemented by numerous accolades, including the prestigious National Science and Technology (NST) Fellowship (2023) awarded by the Ministry of Science and Technology of Bangladesh, a research grant under ICCCAD’s CAP-RES project, and the Dean’s Award for her exceptional undergraduate performance.
Eti's research interests lie at the intersection of urban hazards, climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, environmental science, gender studies, and GIS-based spatial analysis. These interdisciplinary interests are reflected in her contributions to both academic and applied research.
Her future goals include further contributing to the fields of climate resilience, urban planning, and disaster preparedness through research, teaching, and advocacy, particularly in the context of vulnerable coastal and riverine communities in Bangladesh.
